Coober Pedy
When I was in the Outback in Coober Pedy digging holes in the ground looking for my fortune, we erected small buildings like this.
I remember i was down this hole about 35 metres down, and digging horizontally, in this hole, the family i worked for had created spaces where they lived, quite unique really.
I remember one day, i had forgot to put the cover over the top of the hole or shaft. Sitting there 35 metres down and 10 metres across, i heard this loud "WHap" as something landed heavilly at the bottom of the shaft. Unfortuanely i was volunteered to go look, I found a rather large snake, a bit dazzled but definately looking for the bloke that put a hole in his path.
They say that when you are about to die, your life passes in front of your eyes, well here i was down a hole, with the only escape covered by a snake that had just dropped 35 metres, and was looking to bite someone real quick. I think my life went past in a blurr.
Neadless to say, i did the only thing i could and ran back the way i came, to arrive with my workmates, to say, "nope couldnt see anything, but just to be sure why dont you go look yourself" :)
