I was working in Mt Newman in Western Australia. Mt Newman is a mining town, at the time it had 6000 people living there, 5922 men - 45 married women and 33 men, we were not sure what they were. :) </div> <bR> <div> Now there are only 2 things to do socially there, to either spend it at the pub or to bet at the TAB. A few of us got together to either play a sport, or just have fun. It was announced that the mine would put on a talent show, so we decided to enter. But we wanted to do something that would be memorable. So after a lot of thought we decided to organise ourselves into a Aborigine clan, and do some dancing. Of course we had to practice, and we did this most nights, now if you can imagine 30 to 40 guys wearing only their underwear and dancing round a fire, well that's what we did. But we had to keep secret what we were doing, for 2 reasons, firstly we felt that if everyone knew what we were doing it would spoil the surprise and secondly, I think we were a little embarrassed. Well it was the night before the show, and we decided to practice for the last time. So we arranged to meet for a BBQ, on a hill about about 2klm's outside of town. </div> <div> One of the guys brought a black concoction along that he said if we smear it over our body, then we would look more like Aborigines, so off we went to smear. Way into the night, after much food and beer, and playing some music, we decided to do our thing. Unfortunately we didn't realise that we would be visible from the road, as the policeman said, he came round a bend and saw, all these men whooping and a hollering around this big fire. He thought it was quite interesting :) He couldn't stop laughing. On the good side, we entered the competition and came 2nd, on the bad side the stuff that we smeared on our bodies, didn't come off for about 3 weeks. So we were black from the head to the waist, then part of the legs as well, naked we looked like a pack liquorice Allsorts. :) </div> <bR> </td> </tr></table></body>
